Community Connections

Rutland, Vermont is a vibrant community with much tradition and a very friendly atmosphere.  Rutland is a great place for young people to get a start on their careers.   The following businesses provide a look at the community and they represent some of the opportunity available to students through work programs.  Many other businesses participate with Stafford Technical Center in providing related work experiences to young people.
 
There are many businesses in the Rutland Region that cooperate with Stafford Technical Center in offering youngsters the opportunity to build on the beginning skills they are learning in their technical programs.  Business offices in downtown such as those in the Service Building employ students in office positions.
 
 

Rutland is a busy commercial center for the Central Region of Vermont.  Students have the opportunity for employment in financial institutions such as The First Vermont Bank on the corner of Merchants Row and Evelyn Street.
 

 

Automotive and Power Mechanics students are able to experience the supply side of the industry by participating in work programs at shops such as A & J Auto Parts on West Street  in downtown Rutland.  This experience supplements their school program for Automotive Technology, Auto Collision & Refinishing and Power Mechanics.
 
 

Small to medium size manufacturing operations look to the Stafford Technical Center to provide them with trained and motivated youngsters to fill entry level jobs.  Here a Manufacturing Technology student is employed at Interstate Manufacturing Company at Howe Center.
 
 

The Rutland Regional Medical Center is one of the larger employers in the region.  Students from the Health Services Program, the Electrical/Plumbing Program, the Culinary Arts Program, and the Business Cluster have had the opportunity participate in varied career work and learning experiences at RRMC.
 
 

Rutland Plywood is a growing company in the Rutland area.  This company looks for youngsters with good mechanical skills, a willingness to learn and an interest to grow.  Stafford Technical Center educational programs provide youngsters with marketable skills to meet the needs of this employer.
 

These companies represent some of the diversity of business in the Rutland region.   Career Work Options are available to students who show interest and promise in their chosen occupational field.
