Boys 7th-8th Grade Soccer
|
|
Dear parents of the Boys 7th grade soccer team, I’m very excited about this season. For many of the players, this year marks the beginning of a 6 year career playing competitive interscholastic soccer for the Rutland schools. My goals are straightforward. First, I would like each player to gain valuable experience being part of a team. Second, I would like each player to improve his mastery of the basic skills of soccer. Finally, I would like each player to get in good physical shape, which is essential for success in soccer. If you have any questions about the schedule or directions to games, you may check the athletic department’s websites at http://rutlandcitypublicschools.org/schools/rhs/athletics/ . You can view the game schedule at http://viewmyschedule.digitalsports.com/lmpublic/links/SportsSchedule.asp . Mike Norman can be reached at 773-1962. I will also post information on my personal school website at http://rutlandhs.k12.vt.us/eisenman/new_page_1.htm . My home phone is 362-4914, my work number is 770-1262, and my email is reisenman@rutlandhs.k12.vt.us. Unless there are special circumstances, I will try to hold practices every day after school from 3:40 to 5:00. All players must be dressed and ready to start promptly at 3:40. All parents picking their kids up should arrive no later than 5:00. I would like to ask your cooperation in ensuring that your son shows up to all of the games and practices. If you know in advance that your son will be absent, please tell me as soon as possible so that I can make appropriate arrangements. Playing soccer at the 7th grade level will challenge the boys in ways that they have never been challenged before. I will place high expectations on players to behave in a manner beneficial to the team. Among other things, this means working hard at all times to improve one’s skills, being supportive of teammates, respectfully communicating with teammates and the coach, being punctual for all team obligations, etc… In order to promote team cohesion, it would be great if a family or two would host a team “pasta” dinner during the season. Please contact me if you are interested in being a host. In addition, there is a food drive tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2009. Your support is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me anytime. I would like to keep an open line of communication with all of you. Thank you. Yours truly, Ron Eisenman Important Dates 1st practice: Tuesday, August 25 from 3:40-5:00. Thereafter, we will practice every weekday, unless there is severe weather, a game is scheduled, or practice is specifically cancelled by me. General policies 1) Players must attend all practices and games. A player may be excused if he presents a note from a parent stating a valid reason for nonattendance. 2) Practice will start and end promptly at the announced time. Each player must make arrangements on his own to be at the field ready to play (with cleats on) by the beginning of practice. Parents should make arrangements to pick up their son at the end of practice 3) I need written permission from any parent who wishes to take a player home directly from a game. If the player is going home with another parent, I need notes from both the driver and the player's parent. Notes need to be signed by a building Principal. There are no exceptions. 4) Players are expected to exhibit sportsmanship at all times. 5) Players must exhibit respect for the coaching staff and teammates at all times. 6) Players are expected to give 100% effort during practice and games. 7) While playing time will not be equal for each player, every player who follows the above policies can expect to play in every game. For example, goalies and defenders can usually expect to play more than players in other positions. 8) Players are required to bring their own water to practice and games. It is critical that players remain properly hydrated. 9) Players are expected to follow all RMS and RMS athletic policies. Use of drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes at any time will result in expulsion from the team.
