Today was our first full day at North Beach campground in Burlington, VT.  We got a ride to the Lake Champlain Basin Science Center and arrived an hour before it opened.  We decided to take a hike to the Perkins Museum of Geology on UVM’s campus.  Here we finally saw the fossil of the Charlotte Whale, instead of just a sign in the road.  The museum also had many other fossils and rocks.  Afterward we returned to the Lake Champlain Basin Science Center and actually went inside. We watched a boring slide show and listened to a lady talk for way too long.  That’s one thing that I learned on this trip – people don’t know when to stop talking about nothing.  The rest of the center was interesting, there were a lot of cool things to do and see there.  For example, the tank that you put your head in to see turtles all around you, as Jesse demonstrates.  Jenn was interviewed about our trip for the news.  Our trip was on the 6:00 and 11:00 news that night.  We also met up with a Burlington Free Press reporter that asked about our trip. We mentioned that there was a guy at our camp the day before taking our pictures, but he said there was no one at the Press by that description.  We are still wondering.  We ended our day in Burlington, eating Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and watching entertainers like the crazy troll man pictured as Rob, Jesse, Allen, and Aaron look on.  Jesse and I hit all the toy stores and played the toy we never got to as kids.  We came to the conclusion that kids today have it made!
