Tom Garofano: Senior
Last night was a one night stay at North Hero State Park. Which was a very beautiful hard wood forest with the campsites nestled a mere half a mile from the canoes. By the time I set up my tent on the gravel campsite, I estimate that I had walked about two miles between transporting my gear to transporting food and other group gear. Early last night we encountered quite severe thunderstorms, with torrential down pours. They let up for a while around dinner time then returned for a second round, at about 10:00PM or so. This being the last nigh I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on this expedition in all that the group has accomplished, and now some people regularly avoided cooking dishes, and camp set up and tear down. Throughout the trip I’ve overlooked these short comings and took on most of these tasks myself, which I really didn’t mind until about now. I find it unfortunate that a select few of us have been counting down the days from day one. I know this from the way they have conducted themselves, through mopping around and just poor attitudes. I wish that these people could have come out of this experience with as much if not more than I. For the most part this group comprised mostly of people who really are not best friends and some not even acquaintances got along rather well and some of us became very good friends, and are planning another voyage before we go our separate ways in the world.
