Leigh Ryan: Junior
Today I woke up at 5:20 AM to birds singing and the sun on its way up.
I was paddling down the Otter Creek with Mr. Hooker when the people
in the canoe in front of us paointed out two owls. They were beautiful.
We
pulled out for lunch in Leicester. As I was trying to get out a frog jumped
into my canoe. Mr. Hooker read us an article about a man dumping barrels
of chemicals into the river right where we were. Further down the river
we came to a spot where the river was almost completly blocked off (see
diagram to left.) 1, 2 and 3 were all logs. We had to paddle between
2 and 3. As each canoe went through it would get slammed up against #3
logs and it almost tipped the canoe. After that challenge everything was
a breeze.
