Civics & Economics

Ms Kravitz

Welcome!  You are about to embark on a study of civics and economics.  By the end of the semester we will have covered microeconomics, the American, Vermont, and local governments, as well as macroeconomics.  Most importantly, we will study how you are affected every day by the decisions the consumers, producers, elected and appointed government officials.  This is an exciting time to study economics and civics.  There is so much going on locally, nationally and internationally that will affect you for many years to come.

For this course, you will need the following everyday in class:

If you have trouble getting any of these, please speak with me as soon as possible.

Your binder should be divided into the following six sections:

My general expectations of you are that you will be:

a)      organized,

b)     prepared for every class,

c)     ready to participate in class, and

d)     respectful of your classmates, yourself, and me.

You should expect the same from me. If you miss a day of class, you are responsible for any work or notes you missed.  You should also schedule a time to meet with me if you have any questions about the material.

Assignments for each unit will be handed out the first day of the unit and will be available online at: http://rutlandhs.k12.vt.us/kravitz in case you lose your assignment sheet.  Assignments will vary from writing and reading to artwork and research. Because you have an assignment sheet, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETING ALL ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME.  I will not always remind you of the homework you have on a given night.  All grades will be posted frequently on www.K12Planet.com.

Late Policy: The late policy is that you will lose 1/3 of a grade per school day an assignment is late. The highest grade a paper over 5 school days late can achieve is a D-.  Please let me know if you will not be able to complete and assignment by talking to me in school or contacting me at home.  The longer in advance I know about a potentially late assignment, the more likely I am to excuse the tardiness.
